These are intended to be general instructions, if you are not a mechanic or are uncomfortable performing these steps, do not proceed or damages could occur.
Instructions:
Either Jackup or drive the drivers side of the truck up on ramps so the fluid will drain out of the differential, be sure the truck is warm before this
Loosen the FILL BOLT(not the drain bolt). Always be sure to loosen the Fill Bolt first because if for some reason you can get the drain bolt out your differential will be empty and the truck is out of commision
Next, loosen the drain bolt, be sure your Oil Catch Pan is in position to catch the fluid
Remove the drain bolt and allow the differential to drain for a while, clean the magnetized bolt while it is out, it may have shavings on it
If you are using a jack, raise the jack up so all the oil can drain out. Be careful, do not work under the truck if only supported by a jack
Once the fluid is completely drained, replaced the Drain Bolt
Next, fill the fluid, pour until the differential is full and it comes out of the Fill Hole, then replace the Fill Bolt
Torque down the Fill and Drain bolts, Toyota calls for 36ft/lb on the Fill Bolt and 29ft/lb on the Drain Bolt
